Statistics available through the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State website indicate that voter turnout for this Election Day was strong both around the state and region.
In Nobles County, there were a total of 9,901 registered voters as of 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. An estimated total of 8,275 people voted, the Secretary of State's Office reported.
In Jackson County, there were a total of 6,386 registered voters as of 7 a.m. Tuesday. An estimated 5,693 voted.
In Cottonwood County, 6,704 were registered at 7 a.m. Tuesday and an estimated 6,092 voted. In Murray County, 5,320 were registered and 4,806 voted. Those numbers for Rock County were 5,911 registered and 5,398 voting. In Pipestone County, there were 5,368 registered and 4,915 voting.
Across the state, there were 4,285,809 registered voters as of Tuesday morning. There was a total of 3,258,747 estimated voters, for an estimated turnout of 76.04%. It's not yet known where Minnesota ranks in the nation in voting in this year's election.
Other statistics from the region show that 67% of the Nobles County vote in the U.S. President race was for Republican Donald Trump. That number was similar in other area counties -- it was 70% in both Jackson and Murray counties, 69% in Cottonwood and Rock counties, and 73% in Pipestone County.
