The city of Adrian has been awarded a $1.6 million grant.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced last week that the Department’s Economic Development Administration has awarded the grant for electrical infrastructure improvements to support business and job creation in the region. The grant will construct a new electrical substation and help purchase related equipment to mitigate future risk and vulnerability of the municipal electrical system.
This EDA investment will be matched with $1.6 million in local funds and is expected to create or retain more than 175 jobs, according to grantee estimates.
Said Minnesota 1st District Rep. Brad Finstad in a press release: “Adrian, Minnesota is home to a growing business community that requires reliable power sources to maintain and expand operations. I appreciate contributions that the U.S. Economic Development Administration has made to strengthen the integrity of the electrical systems in this community. This $1.6 million investment will ensure that Adrian has the necessary resources to continue to flourish.”
