The Minnesota West Bluejay football team once again holds the No. 2 ranking in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll.
College of DuPage repeats as No. 1 and captured all six first-place votes for a total of 20 points. The Bluejays had 16 points and are followed in the top five by Hudson Valley Community College, Louisburg College and North Dakota State College of Science.
This past Saturday, Minnesota West rolled to a 58-9 triumph over Central Lakes College in the Bluejays' second home game of the season. Quarterback Elijah Alexander passed for three touchdowns in the game and completed 12-of-14 passes for 237 yards and no interceptions. Hunter Grathwohl paced the running game with seven carries for 68 yards and three scores. Shenard Foster caught two passes for a team-high 92 yards, including a 76-yard TD from Alexander.
Defensively, Deante Porter – who leads Minnesota West in total tackles this season – had nine more total tackles on Saturday. Justin Spears, in addition to an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown, also had six total tackles, as did Derrick McBride.
The 4-0 Bluejays play at 3-2 Rochester this Saturday afternoon.

Minnesota West's women's volleyball team, meanwhile, holds steady at No. 5 in this week's NJCAA Division III poll. The Lady Jays won all three of their matches last week and now have a record of 17-3.
The top four teams in the nation also remain the same as last week: Dallas College Eastfield (which is 15-0), followed by Century College, Owens Community College and Finger Lakes Community College. The Lady Jays play Century College on the road Saturday in White Bear Lake.

The Minnesota West Bluejay soccer team now has a two-match winning streak after earning a 3-1 victory Sunday at Lake Superior College.
Prince Lebbi took a ball down off a corner kick and scored with 39 minutes gone by in the first half to make it 1-0, Minnesota West; an assist was credited to Manuel Alcorn. Lake Superior, though, evened matters at 1-all about three and half minutes later.
In the second half, Mason Bruce put the Bluejays back in front with his first goal of the season, which came unassisted at 69 minutes. Lebbi later added to his goal total and extended the score to 3-1 with 13 minutes remaining in the match. Logan Griffiths put a well-placed free kick into the box for his first assist of the year.
Now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play, Minnesota West next hosts Anoka-Ramsey at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Trojan Field.
