Bluejay men's hoops team now 3-0 after Tuesday win

The Minnesota West Bluejay men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season Tuesday night with a 75-71 road triumph at Dakota County Technical College.


Zackery Rygg, the reigning MCAC Athlete of the Week, poured in 23 points for the Bluejays and also passed for a team-high five assists. Keion Irvin contributed 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench, and Henry Counsel added 10 points to go along with nine rebounds. Karasharo Ojullo led Minnesota West on the boards with 11 and also had nine points and four assists.


The Bluejay men have a couple of games coming up this weekend in the annual Minnesota West Classic at the Center for Health & Wellness. They'll play at a 7 p.m. Friday against the Dordt University JV and at 5 p.m. Saturday against the Northwestern College JV. The Lady Jays will play host to Ridgewater at 3 p.m. Saturday.

A national championship send-off event for the Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team will begin with a 2 p.m. reception on Tuesday in the Worthington Campus Commons.


A bus parade is set to follow at 3 p.m. The team will leave the college parking lot, go right on Collegeway and proceed to West Lake Avenue. They'll turn right on West Lake Avenue and go around the lake, then head up Second Avenue past the fire hall to 10th Street. They'll turn left on 10th Street and travel to Fifth Avenue, where they will continue on to Humiston Avenue and then to Interstate 90.
