The Minnesota West Bluejay wrestling team hit the mat again Saturday at the highly competitive Buena Vista University Open in Storm Lake, Iowa, which included teams ranging from NCAA Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 and NJCAA Division 1 and Division 3.
Sam Rock was the lone placer for the Bluejays, taking home fourth place out of more than 40 athletes at 174. Also achieving success on the day was Aidyn Wolfe at 184, Billey Mensah at 285 and Isaiah Rodriguez, who wrestled unattached at 174, placing eighth overall.
In action earlier in the week, the Bluejays hosted the #15-ranked North Iowa Area Community College Trojans this past Wednesday night. Rock, who currently is ranked seventh in his 174-pound weight class, won by decision, and Minnesota West won the 125-pound match by forfeit. North Iowa Area ultimately won the dual, 47-9.
The Bluejays are back in action this coming weekend as they head down to Sioux City to take on Morningside, which is highly ranked in the NAIA.
