Buttermakers' offense churns its way to 13-2 win

The Worthington Cubs ran into a hot-swinging Hadley Buttermakers team Sunday afternoon and were defeated on the road 13-2 in amateur baseball play.


The Cubs got solo home runs from King Blanchette and Tyler Linder in the game. Worthington will next play on Wednesday at home against the Fairmont Martins.

Elsewhere in amateur baseball Sunday, it was: Ruthton 2, Lakefield 0; Jackson 15, Pipestone 4; Hadley 14, Mountain Lake 3; Milroy 4, Fairmont 1; Jackson 11, Ruthton 1; Pipestone 7, Lakefield 6; and Windom 14, Heron Lake 0.

Current Gopher League standings have Luverne in first place at 10-0, followed by Milroy at 8-3, Hadley at 7-4, Worthington at 4-8, and Pipestone and Ruthton each at 2-8.


In the First Nite League, Fairmont is 9-3 and has a half-game edge over 9-4 Jackson for first place. Windom is 8-4, Lakefield 6-6, Fox Lake 5-7, Mountain Lake 2-8 and Heron Lake 2-10.
