Class A state golf meet wraps up in Becker

Murray County Central, competing in the Class A state girls golf meet at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, had a team score of 359 on Wednesday and finished in eighth place in the two-day event with a total of 773. Fillmore Central and Dawson-Boyd wound up as co-champions with team scores of 652.


For the Rebels, Ava Johnson finished tied for 30th among individuals with 174 Rachel Huso was 35th at 176, Lizzie Daniels wound up tied for 62nd at 198, Natalie Einck placed 79th at 225 and Lauren Larson was 80th at 237.


Other area individuals competing at the state A girls meet were Marissa Becker of Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda and Neveah Ott of Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey, who finished with total scores of 220 and 264, respectively. The lowest two-round score of the tournament was turned in by Lindsey Lund of Dawson-Boyd, who recorded a 147 on rounds of 80 Tuesday and 67 Wednesday.


In boys golf, Nathan Kueny of Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda fired a round of 81 on Wednesday to finish play at state with a two-day total of 163, which had him in a tie for 36th place. Alex Munson of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton carded a 91 and wound up at 172; that placed him tied for 57th. Parker Brock of Walker-Hackensack-Akeley topped all golfers at 140.
