High temperatures in Worthington were once again significantly warmer than average last month while total precipitation was more than twice what's normal, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The average high temperature in Worthington in December was 39.5 degrees, or 11.6 degrees warmer than the average December high of 27.9. The warmest high of the month, 58 degrees, was recorded on Dec. 8. There was also a high of 52 on Christmas Day, and it was 51 degrees on Dec. 15. It was the warmest December on record.
The average low in Worthington in December was 22.5 degrees, or 10.7 degrees warmer than the average of 11.8. The lowest temperature reading came on Dec. 11 at 7 degrees. There were lows of 11 recorded on Dec. 1 and 2.
Worthington received a total of 2.03 inches of precipitation during the month of December, with the precip total being 1.15 inches more than typical. A total of 1.59 inches of that rain fell between Dec. 24 and 26. There was a mere trace of snowfall this past month.
For all of 2023, there was 24.2 inches of precipitation; the normal total is 30.52 inches. As for temperatures, the average high for 2023 was 56.4; the average low 35.7. By comparison, the average high for the year is 54.5 and the typical low is 34.3.
