Firefighters from four communities responded to a Sunday afternoon grass fire at Erickson Avenue and 230th Street in Rushmore.
Rushmore Fire Department chief Brent Petersen said the fire had the ability to spread quickly given gusty winds and dry conditions, but that firefighters were able to control the blaze without it spreading to any structures. The fire took place on
Nobles County Pheasants Forever land and was reported at 1:48 p.m. Sunday.
Also called to the fire were departments from Adrian, Lismore and Ellsworth. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
