Hesse, Schreurs take over top spots in Lady Jay VB record book

Ella Hesse and Lexi Schreurs became Minnesota West volleyball career leaders in kills and asset assists, respectively, as the Lady Jays finished off a 2-0 day in a three-team home tournament with a 3-0 victory over Iowa Lakes. Game scores were 25-13, 25-20, 25-14.

 

Hesse needed 11 kills against the Lakers to get the kills record, and she finished with exactly that number. Schreurs needed 24 set assists against Iowa Lakes; she ended the match with 27. Hesse now has 487 career kills and moved past Kennedy Buckneberg. Schreurs has exactly 1,200 set assists and passed her head coach, Britney McNab.

 

Sadie Krahling contributed 10 kills and 21 digs in the Iowa Lakes match, Abby Loosbrock had eight kills and pair of blocks, and Kaydyn Paulson accumulated 34 digs. Kate Slettum had a team-high five ace serves for Minnesota West, which is now 6-0 on the season.

 

The Lady Jays captured their first match of the day 3-1 over the Dakota Wesleyan JV. Krahling paced the team with 12 kills, 23 digs and two blocks. Hesse wound up with 11 kills, 11 digs and an ace serve. Schreurs passed for 23 set assists and was 20-for-20 serving with two aces. Slettum also had two aces, and Paulson came up with 21 digs.

 

Minnesota West will next compete in a tournament on Friday and Saturday in Sioux City.
