The city of Jackson has announced that the community’s ice skating rink is done for the season.
In a news release, the city stated that it tried and struggled to make ice early in the season, but mild temperatures foiled those attempts -- particularly with the rain around Christmas. When it finally did get cold, brutally low temperatures made ice on the rink brittle and bad for skating, which created potholes. Now, the latest warm weather has killed off any chance of good skating this year, the city said.
The city plans to have the ice skating rink operational again next year.
