In the state Class AA football quarterfinals Friday night, JCC rolled to a 34-7 triumph over Norwood-Young America.
Roman Voss got the Huskies on the board just 17 seconds into the game when he ran for a 73-yard touchdown on his team's first offensive play from scrimmage. A little more than two and a half minutes later, JCC's Ben Dahlin grabbed an interception and returned it 63 yards for another TD.
JCC led 14-0 at the half and doubled its advantage in the third quarter on a pair of Grant Freking scoring passes -- the first one to Ben Gallagher covering 15 yards and the other to Carson Pohlman for 23 yards. Tavion Diggs had an 18-yard TD run for the still-unbeaten Huskies in the fourth quarter.
JCC, the south section's No. 2 seed, is in the state semifinals for the third year in a row. It will meet North No. 1 Kimball Area at 9 a.m. Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Dassel-Cokato scored a touchdown with 25 seconds to go in the game Saturday and then ran in the two-point conversion as the Chargers edged Fairmont 29-28 in the state Class 3A football quarterfinals. Fairmont ended its season with an 8-3 record.

In the state Class 3A volleyball championship match Saturday, Alexandria topped Marshall 3-1. Game scores were 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22.
