The Jackson County Central High School football team will aim to qualify for the state Class AA tournament for the third straight year when they host Pipestone Area at 7 p.m. Friday night at Trojan Field in Worthington.
The unbeaten Huskies are the No. 1 seed in Section 3AA and earned a spot in Friday's sectional final by defeating No. 4 LeSeuer-Henderson 36-14 this past Saturday in Jackson. The victory moved the Huskies into the sectional finals for the 12th straight season, not including the COVID year of 2020. Roman Voss ran for 110 yards and a touchdown on Saturday, while Ben Dahlin had 101 yards on the ground and scored twice.
Pipestone Area, the No. 2 seed in the section, beat Redwood Valley 23-14 last Saturday. The Arrows are 7-2. In an Oct. 16 matchup at Jackson County Central, the Huskies beat Pipestone Area 45-6.
In other playoff football Friday: top-seeded and 9-0 Hills-Beaver Creek will play at 7-2 Mountain Lake Area at 12:30 p.m. at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall; No. 1 and 9-0 Springfield will face No. 3 and 8-2 Murray County Central at 10 a.m. at SMSU; 8-1 Waseca will meet 7-2 Fairmont at 7 p.m. at New Ulm High School; and 8-1 Marshall will take on 4-5 Hutchinson at 7 p.m. at SMSU.
