The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team improved to 13-2 on the season Wednesday night by topping visiting Ridgewater 3-0 at the Center for Health and Wellness. Game scores were 25-9, 25-13, 25-19.
The Lady Jays, who are ranked fifth in the latest NJCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Poll, won handily despite being without all-time Minnesota West kills leader Ella Hesse, who was sidelined due to illness. There was plenty of depth to make up for that, as multiple players saw action in the match.
The Lady Jays will play a pair of matches Friday in Sioux City, then be back in action at home next Wednesday night as they face arch-rival Rochester at 6:30 p.m.

The Minnesota West men’s soccer team dropped to 0-3 on the season Wednesday as they were shut out at home 3-0 by Iowa Central Community College.
The Bluejays have now been outscored 11-2 this season and were blanked Wednesday for the second straight time. Their next match will be Sept. 18 at Riverland.
