The Murray County Sheriff's Office issued an advisory on social media Monday that it has received several reports of text messages about supposed toll road violations.
An example of such a message states that you have an outstanding toll balance on your EZDriveMA account. To avoid additional fees, it adds, a payment should be made within 12 hours, and that failure to do so could result in increased charges and reporting to the Registry of Motor Vehicles. It then asks the message recipient to click on a payment link.
People should not click on any hyperlinks in text messages or give out personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, they should contact law enforcement.
