The Mountain Lake Police Department investigated a stabbing Monday morning at the community's Casey's General Store.
According to a Mountain Lake Police Department statement released Monday night, local police and the Mountain Lake Ambulance were dispatched at 10:01 a.m. for the stabbing. The victim, a 30-year-old Georgia resident, had fled into the store after being stabbed in the head. The suspect, Crisincio Timothy Franks, of Georgia, had left the scene in a cargo box truck.
The Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office was able to locate the cargo truck and perform a felony stop near the St. James rest stop. Franks was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Cottonwood County Jail on second-degree assault.
The incident remains under investigation. The victim received medical care at Windom Area Health Emergency Department and was discharged from the hospital.
Also assisting Monday were the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Windom Police Department, St. James Police Department and the Madelia Police Department.
