Kyle Jonathan Liford has been charged with five felonies in connection with a Feb. 27 shooting in Truman.
The shooting happened during an apparent domestic dispute. The complaint states that a witness identified Liford as the shooter. Liford fled the scene before officers arrived.
Martin County Sheriff deputy Markus Murphy was able to talk to the victim before she was transferred to a hospital, and she also identified Liford as the shooter. The charges include: attempted second-degree murder with intent but not premeditated, which carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years' imprisonment; second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon; dangerous weapons-reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality; dangerous weapons-intentional discharge that endangers safety; and failure to render aid to a victim of a shooting.
The Martin County Sheriff’s office put out a warrant for Liford’s arrest and he was taken into custody Sunday. He is currently being held at the Martin County Jail.
