Man injured after being hit by car in northwest Iowa

An Arizona man was seriously injured Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle in Arnolds Park.

According to the Arnolds Park Police Department, officers were notified of the accident at U.S. 71 and Broadway Street at around 1:18 a.m. Wednesday. A 2019 Chrysler operated by Kiah Ritzer, 22, of Spirit Lake collided with Tyler Chaffin, 30, of Surprise, Ariz. Chaffin was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake and was then transferred by air to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Ritzer was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Arnolds Park police were assisted by the Milford and Okoboji Police Departments, Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue and the Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.
