Adrian-Ellsworth scored the game's first touchdown, but Murray County Central dominated the rest of the way as the third-seeded Rebels downed the second-seeded Dragons 38-8 Saturday afternoon in Adrian.
A-E, which finished its season at 7-2, marched down the field on its opening drive, and quarterback Aiden Tweet scored on a one-yard run and then ran in the two-point conversion for an 8-0 Dragon lead. MCC quickly answered, as Rebel QB Teague Meyer crossed the goal line on a 35-yard scamper and ran added a two-point conversion of his own to tie the score with 2:48 remaining in the first quarter.
Carson Engelkes booted a 35-yard field goal 15 seconds before halftime to edge MCC ahead, 11-8. The Rebels' Carson Lewis then proceeded to take the second-half kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown, and Lewis later added two more third-quarter TDs on runs of 33 and seven yards. Meyer added another TD on the first play of the fourth quarter on a seven-yard run.
MCC, now 8-2, takes on No. 1 seed Springfield on Friday at SMSU in Marshall.

The Minnesota West volleyball team picked up two more wins over the weekend, clinching the MCAC Southern Division title in the process. The 30-4 Lady Jays, ranked second nationally, won twice on the road, beating Minnesota State Fergus Falls by scores of 25-19, 25-11, 25-19 and Ridgewater by scores of 25-12, 25-7, 25-14.
Minnesota West will play a pair of scrimmage matches Monday and then compete in the District 13A Tournament Friday and Saturday. A win there would qualify the Lady Jays for the national tournament.
