The Minnesota West Bluejay baseball team wrapped up a road trip to Arizona this past weekend by winning its final three games.
The Bluejays began their 2025 season by losing eight of their first nine, but are now 4-8 thanks to their three-game winning streak. It began with a doubleheader sweep on Friday, with Minnesota West topping Bismarck State College 6-2 and then defeating HR Sports Academy 12-3. Then, in a five-inning game played Saturday, the Bluejays topped Minnesota North College-Rainy River, 14-4.
In the Friday game against Bismarck State, Minnesota West sophomore and Worthington High graduate Triston Sauerbrei pitched all seven innings while scattering just three hits, walking two and striking out eight. Eliecer Gonzales banged out a pair of doubles and drove in three runs.
Against HR Sports Academy, another Worthington High grad — Tucker Brandner — pitched the first six innings. allowing two earned runs on three hits while walking five and striking out nine. Moises Sugasti led the Bluejays at the plate with three hits.
In the victory against Rainy River, Shahir Brahim paced the offense by going 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Johnny Ramsey had three hits, drove in three runs and scored three times.
The Bluejays are scheduled to play one game Friday and two more Sunday in Sioux Falls.
