Minnesota College Athletic Conference play begins Wednesday night for the Minnesota West women's and men's basketball teams.
Minnesota West will take on Minnesota State-Fergus Falls in a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Center for Health & Wellness in Worthington. The Lady Jays are currently ranked fourth in NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball; the Bluejays are in the "receiving votes" category.
In the women's matchup, 8-7 Minnesota West goes up against 5-4 Minnesota State-Fergus Falls. For the Lady Jays, freshman Sadie Krahling currently ranks fourth among MCAC women in points per game at 17.4, and freshman Rhea Tucker is fifth in the conference in rebounds at 9.7 and sixth in points per game at 16.3. Fergus Falls, meanwhile, had the MCAC's top two rebounders, as Felicity LeBlanc averages 12.4 boards per contest and Madison Foss 12.0. Tenley Epema of the Spartans is second in the conference in 3-point percentage.
In the men's game, 14-2 Minnesota West meets 14-1 Fergus Falls. Foday Sheriff of the Spartans currently ranks third in the conference in both scoring and rebounds with 19.3 points and 10.4 boards per outing. The Bluejays' Zackery Rigg, meanwhile, is sixth in the MCAC in points per game at 18.4.
Both of Wednesday's games will be broadcast on 104.3 La Voz.
