The Minnesota West Community & Technical College men's and women's basketball teams will host the annual Sanford Classic tournament Friday and Saturday in the Center for Health & Wellness on the Worthington campus.
The Lady Jays enter the tournament 3-0 and are ranked No. 4 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Preseason Poll. Minnesota West earned 90-51 and 107-43 victories at Sisseton Community College last weekend, then won 104-61 at Ellsworth Community College on Tuesday. The Lady Jays are scheduled to play the Northwestern College junior varsity at 6 p.m. Friday and the Dordt College junior varsity at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Minnesota West men's team enters this weekend's event 0-2 following an 84-80 home loss Nov. 1 to the Dakota Wesleyan JV and a 114-68 defeat on Tuesday at Ellsworth Community College. The Bluejays will tip off against the Northwestern JV at 8 p.m. Friday and meet the Dordt JV at 6 p.m. Saturday.
