The Minnesota West volleyball team improved to 2-0 in conference play and 15-3 overall as the No. 5 Lady Jays blanked Rochester at home 3-0. Game scores were 25-10, 25-23, 25-21.
Minnesota West captured the first game of the match by scoring the final eight points with Lexi Schreurs serving. Ally Nelson had the final kill; she and Hesse had three each to lead the way in that first game,
In game two, the Lady Jays trailed by five points on multiple occasions -- the last time at 19-14 – before rallying, A kill from Kayla Larsen sealed the deal, and Hesse picked up six kills in the game – many of them on tips.
Minnesota West trailed 18-17 in game three before going on a 4-0 mini run to take a lead it wouldn’t relinquish. Hesse wound up leading the way in the match with 12 total kills while adding nine digs, four blocks and an ace serve. Nelson contributed eight kills and four blocks, and Sadie Krahling had six kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Schreurs passed for 25 set assists; Kadyn Paulson had 13 digs.
The Lady Jays host Minnesota State Fergus Falls at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Western Tech at noon Saturday.

In high school girls tennis Tuesday afternoon, Worthington was defeated by visiting Redwood Valley 5-2.
The Trojans picked up a victory at No.1 singles when Hannah McNab won by scores of 6-2, 6-1. The other WHS win came at No. 3 doubles, where Tiana Garcia and Madison Poe were triumphant 6-2, 6-1. Four of the five Trojan losses came in straight sets, with the exception at No 2 doubles, where Makayla Phouangphet and Eleanor Teeerink were beaten 4-6, 7-6, 10-3.
