Native American writer to speak at Minnesota West

A crime fiction author who's also a poet, playwright and freelance writer is scheduled to speak next Monday at Minnesota West Community & Technical College.


Marcie Rendon is also a member of the White Earth Nation who has written about violence and the mistreatment of Native American women. She's scheduled to speak from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Fine Arts Theater on Minnesota West's Worthington campus. A book signing with Rendon will then take from 8 to 8:30 p.m.


Rendon will share insights on native issues, leadership and writing during the presentation. She has a degree in criminal justice and Native American studies and an honorary doctorate degree from Adler University in Chicago.


Monday's event at Minnesota West is free and open to the public.
