According to the Minnesota Secretary of State's website, there had been no new candidate filings through 5 p.m. Tuesday for both the Worthington City Council and District 518 Board of Education.
For the city council, both Amy Ernst in Ward 2 and Chris Kielblock in Ward 1 had filed for re-election. No one had yet to file for the councilman at large seat and other Ward 2 seat also open this November.
On the school board. both Matt Widboom and Steve Schnieder have filed. Voters will be able to cast ballots for four school board members this Election Day.
Other candidate filings across Nobles County have been minimal. Meanwhile, in the city of Windom, two candidates recently filed for the open seat in Ward 1. Filing for election are former council member Jayesun Sherman and newcomer Nathaniel Bjorklund. Ward 2 incumbent Scott Benson also has filed for re-election, and three individuals – incumbent Dominic Jones, Hillary Mathis and Jenny Quade – have all filed to run for mayor.
The filing deadline ends Aug. 13.
