October another warm, dry month locally

October's local weather story was very similar to that of September, according to data collected at Worthington's Wastewater Treatment plant.

 

The average high temperature for this past month was 68.0 degrees, which is 9.1 degrees warmer than the 58.9-degree normal high for Worthington in September. The Wastewater Treatment Plant recorded five high temperatures of 80 degrees or more during the month – on the 1st, 10th, 11th, 21st and 22nd.

 

The average low temperature for this just-completed October was 39.5 degrees, or 3.2 degrees warmer than the 36.3 that's normal for Worthington. The coolest thermometer readings came on Oct. 16th and 17th, when there were lows of 24.


As for rainfall, a total of just .64 inches were measured at the Wastewater Treatment Plant this past month, which includes the .6 inches of precipitation measured at 7 a.m. Thursday morning. The October average for Worthington is 2.38 inches.


For the first 10 months of 2024, the average high has been 62.2 degrees and the average low 40.6. That compares to typical year-to-date averages of 58.4 and 37.6, respectively.


The precipitation total for the year now stands at 33.77 inches. That's still above normal, as the 10-month average total for Worthington is 28.37 inches.
