One dies in Saturday fatal crash in Nobles County

One person died Saturday morning as a result of a motor vehicle crash in Nobles County.


A press release from the Nobles County Sheriff's Office reported that the office received a report at approximately 9:23 a.m. Saturday of a crash at the intersection of 270th Street and Nobles County 10. A 2016 Nissan Rogue was westbound on 270th Street, failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a 2023 Jeep traveling north on Nobles County 10. The driver of the Rogue sustained fatal injuries, and the driver of the Jeep was treated and released from the scene.


The sheriff's office indicated that the crash remains under investigation and names are not being released at this time. Assisting at the scene were the Worthington Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Worthington Fire and Rescue and Sanford Ambulance.


UPDATED TUESDAY, 11/19: Names have been released following the death of a Worthington woman in a crash Saturday morning at the intersection of 270th Street and Nobles County 10 in Worthington.


The driver of a 2016 Nissan Rogue, Bounthavy Thammachanh, 49, of Worthington, sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the 2023 Jeep, Stephen Phillip Lanam, 67, of Ocheyedan, Iowa, was treated and released from the scene.
