The Worthington City Council now has candidates for each of the four seats up for election in November.
Michelle Ebbers became the latest to file her candidacy for office when she did so Monday. She is running for the Ward 2 seat currently held by Dennis Weber, who was appointed by the council earlier this year when Alaina Kolpin moved out of city limits. Ebbers is seeking to fill the remainder of Kolpin's unexpired term, which ends in 2026.
Weber, meanwhile, has filed for the council member at large seat that will be voted upon in November. Chad Cummings, who now holds the seat, has not filed for re-election.
Also running for council are Ward 1 incumbent Chris Kielblock and Ward 2 incumbent Amy Ernst, who are each seeking new four-year terms. Ebbers, Weber, Kielblock and Ernst were all unopposed as of Monday night.
Worthington also got another District 518 school board candidate Monday when Kristin Walerius filed. Others who have filed to run thus far are Matt Widboom and Steve Schnieder, both current members of the board, as well as Darla Agard. Joel Lorenz and Tom Prins are also current members of the board who are eligible to run for re-election, but they have yet to file to do so. Voters will have the opportunity to vote for four school board members in November.
The filing deadline for both school board and city council is 5 p.m. today.
