Top-seeded Hills-Beaver Creek will meet No. 6 Murray County Central for the South Subsection 3A title after the Patriots and Rebels earned victories Thursday night.
In the first game of the doubleheader at Worthington High School, H-BC defeated Southwest Minnesota Christian 80-62 behind Jamin Metzger's 35 points. Micah Bush contributed 14 points and Riggins Rheault 13 for the Patriots. Josiah Hoftyzer and Gavin Rieck each had 16 points to top Southwest Minnesota Christian, while Trevin Prinz added 14 points.
In game two, MCC trailed Edgerton 33-24 at halftime but rallied to post a 63-53 triumph. Gavin Gillette scored 20 points and Aidan Swenson picked up 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Rebels. Kade Moffitt led the Flying Dutchmen with 16 points, Michael Gunnink had 14 and Tanner Thomson chipped in with 13.
The Patriots and Rebels will face off for the subsection title at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

In South Subsection 3AA boys basketball, the two top seeds both won Thursday night at Windom Area High School to advance to Saturday's title game. Second-seeded Luverne beat No. 3 Redwood Valley 90-79 in the evening's opening matchup, and top-seeded Jackson County Central earned a triumph over No. 4 Fairmont 66-50. The Huskies and Cardinals will meet at 8 p.m. Saturday at SMSU.

In girls basketball Thursday night, Central Minnesota Christian won the Section 3A title and qualified for the state tournament by downing Hills-Beaver Creek 54-44. Minnewaska Area beat Fairmont for the Section 3AA crown, 53-38.

At the Minnesota Class A Boys Hockey Tournament on Thursday, Luverne was defeated by Northern Lakes 5-3 in a consolation game. Landyn Lais had two of the three Cardinal goals and Maddux Domagala had the other. The Cardinals finished the season at 22-6-2.
