Reception for new NCHS exhibit set for next Thursday

Nobles County Historical Society is hosting a new exhibit, “Wallace Dow: Prairie Architect,” through November.

Wallace Dow was considered the premier architect of the region in the late 19th century. He came to Dakota Territory in 1880 and built a number of iconic structures, including the Historic Dayton House in Worthington. The exhibit, which is a traveling version of an original exhibit from Siouxland Heritage Museums in Sioux Falls, was planned to coincide with the 20th anniversary celebration of the restoration of the Dayton House.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Nobles County Heritage Center, 225 Ninth St., Worthington. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
