As Election Day continues to draw closer, the Nobles County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office reminds voters who live in a mail ballot precinct and have received their ballot in the mail — as well as voters who have requested an absentee ballot for early voting — to return their ballots as soon as possible.
As of Saturday, Oct. 26, 4,008 ballots had been mailed out or handed directly to voters in Nobles County. Of the 4,008 ballots, 2,251 (or just over half) have been returned, leaving 1,757 ballots still in the hands of voters that must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
With 2,251 ballots already returned, that means 23.67% of current voters have already cast their votes for the Nov. 5 general election in Nobles County.
As for mail ballot precincts that lead the way in rate of return, Bloom Township is at 58%. Graham Lakes Township is at 57%, followed by Leota Township at 54%.
Although ballots can be returned by the U.S. Postal Service, voters need to mail them ASAP to ensure they arrive at the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office by Nov. 5. Voters can also hand deliver ballots to the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office or deposit their ballot in the secure drop box located at Door #1 of the Nobles County Government Center. The drop box is available 24/7 and under video surveillance.
Extended voting hours this week are: Tuesday, Oct. 29 — open until 7 P.M.; Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3 — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Monday, Nov. 4th — open until 5 p.m.
