Trojan Football Awards were presented to WHS athletes at a recent banquet.
Jack Schmitz was recognized as the offensive lineman of the year, and Chase Byrne as defensive lineman of the year. Fino Noeno was named as the Trojans' special teams most valuable player, and Ryan Dorcey as the defensive MVP. Isiah Schroeder was honored as Worthington's offensive most valuable player, and Jacari Swinea as Team MVP.
Kevin Ramirez was recognized with the team's 12th man award — given to a hard-working, reliable non-starter — and the Trojan Award, given to an individual who defines a Trojan football player, went to Chase Byrne.
The WHS football team earned an Academic All-State Silver Award for having a cumulative grade point average between 3.0 and 3.25. Additionally, All-District South Central Red Division honors went to Swinea, Byrne, Dorcey and Permeye Okony. Dawson Svalland and Max Ostrem were honorable mention picks.

In girls hockey Thursday night, Marshall stayed unbeaten and improved to 6-0 on the season by blanking host Worthington, 7-0.
The Tigers got three goals in the opening period, with the second two coming within 23 seconds of each other. Marshall then added two more in the second period and two within a 31-second time span of the third period.
Worthington managed just three shots on goal in the game --- one in each period. Trojans goalkeeper Macie Mahlberg stopped 28 of 35 Tiger shots for Worthington, which is now 0-3. WHS plays at Waseca on Saturday afternoon.
