The Worthington Trojan Speech Team competed Thursday at the Big South Conference Meet in Redwood Falls, and 10 of the 19 Worthington meet participants made it to the final round in their respective categories.
In the humorous category, Lucy O'Donnell placed third for the Trojans and Isabella Liu was sixth. MacKenzie Platt earned a third-place finish in poetry, and Gisel Martinez placed fourth in prose. Alondra Leon Flores was fourth in original oratory.
Joel Chavez and Annika Kinser both earned fifth place in extemporaneous reading and extemporaneous speaking, respectively. Grace Gaalswyk placed sixth in storytelling.
The Worthington High School Speech Team was scheduled to compete in a meet Saturday at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.
