Trojans boys soccer team suffers first loss of season

The Worthington Trojans boys soccer team lost their first match of the season Tuesday night as they were defeated at New Ulm, 3-1.

WHS coach Juan Flores explained that while his squad didn’t play badly, it just couldn’t finish scoring opportunities. New Ulm capitalized on the Trojans mistakes and scored on the chances it had, Flores added.

Danny Banegas had the lone goal for seventh-ranked Worthington, now 7-1-2 this season. The Trojans will host Marshall at 7 p.m. Thursday with a chance to play for the conference title on the line.
