The Worthington Trojans gymnastics team opened its season Tuesday night by capturing the top six places in the all-around scores and totaling 135.825 points in a meet at St. James.
Freshman Brooklyn Dykstra wound up in first place in the all-around category at 33.7. Isabella Lazzu, another freshman, was right behind at 33.6, and senior Kenadie Thiner was next at 33.075. Placing fourth through sixth in the all-around, respectively, were Trojans Jada Milbrath at 32.825, Jordis Weber at 32.475 and Marley Phomsatry at 31.375.
WHS gymnasts also filled out the top six places in both the vault and bars as well as the top five in the beam and top three on the floor.
Lazzu led all competitors on the vault with a score of 8.95. Phomsatry earned an 8.725 for second place, and Weber had an 8.5 for third. On the bars, Dykstra was first at 8.3, Thiner second at 7.8 and Milbrath third with 7.625.
Lazzu took first place on the beam as well with a score of 8.9. Dykstra was second with 8.7 and Weber third at 8.65. On the floor, Thiner was first at 9.075, while Dykstra had an 8.575 and Lazzu an 8.55.
Next up for the Trojan gymnasts will be their home opener next Tuesday night, with WHS facing Luverne.
