The Worthington Trojans girls golf team cruised past Windom in girls golf action on Friday, defeating the Eagles 190 to 226 at a meet in Windom.
The Trojans’ Mia Nixon was the afternoon’s medalist with a round of 44. Madison Beckmann of WHS had a 47 to place second overall. Lilly Mahlberg had a 48 for the Trojans, Tarren Spartz a 51 and Claire Mahlberg and Ellie Weg both 54s as Worthington recorded its lowest score of the year.
Head coach Brooke Hermsen noted that it has been great to see WHS playing consistent golf week by week. The Trojans play their final conference meet today at Dakotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton.
In boys golf, Worthington edged Windom Area. The teams both compiled totals of 169, but Andrew Mulder’s fifth-player score of 45 put WHS on top.
Logan Powers had a 37 for the Trojans to tie the Eagles’ Carter Rossow and Eli Lund for medalist honors. Spenser Nickel, Tyler Jaycox and Spenser Braaksma each had 44s, Mulder carded a 45 and Wesley Widboom shot a 49.

The Worthington Trojans took a 3-0 lead in a high school baseball game on the road Friday against Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter, but wound up falling 5-4 in nine innings.
The Trojans collected six hits in the game – picking them up were Mathias Noble, Triston Sauerbrei, Cooper McCoy, Cade Grimmius, Ben Mahlberg and Chase Byrne. Grimmius and Byrne had the only WHS RBIs. Worthington will host Luverne at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Madison Brouwer, 800 meters, 1500 meters and distance medley; Alayna Wingate, 400 meter hurdles, distance medley and 4x400; Madison Marco, 1500 meters and 3000 meters; Zoe Ackerman, distance medley and 4x400; Keytin Elser, shot put; Olivia Hensch, distance medley; Bria Wasmund, 4x400; Ben Byers, 1600 meters and 4x800; Alejandro Bernal, 3200 meters; David Poppen, 4x800; and Cale Reiter, 4 x800.
The following George-Little Rock athletes qualified --- Isaiah Johnson, 100, 200 and 400 meters; Evan Kruger, discus; the 4x100 relay team of Lane Krieger, Jack Krull, Brandon Van Briessen and Johnson; Roya Amirhamzeh, 400 meters, the 4x400 team of Lindsey Haken, Taryn Odens, Hannah Anderson and Amirhamzeh and the 4x800 team of Lexi Landis, Haken, Amirhamzeh and Anderson.

The Section 2AA Boys Tennis Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday. Seventh-seeded Worthington will compete at No. 2 Mankato East. Individual matches begin at 4:30 p.m.
