The Worthington Trojan wrestling team competed at the Martin County Triangular on Friday night, defeating Red Rock Central 39-7 and then losing to Martin County 40-29.
Against Red Rock Central, the Trojans' Dominic Larson won by fall at 107 pounds and Bly Scott was triumphant via technical fall at 121. Kian Ling won a major decision for WHS at 127, and Brayden Ramyo and Carlos Martinez won for the Trojans at 172 and 215, respectively. Worthington picked up three other victories by forfeit.
WHS will next wrestle Thursday in a triangular meet at Pipestone.

In boys hockey Friday night, Worthington traveled to undefeated Waseca and was beaten 15-1. The Trojans are now 3-9 and play at Marshall on Tuesday.

The Worthington Trojans gymnastics team competed at the Matt Shetka Invitational Meet on Saturday in New Prague and placed sixth out of nine teams with a composite score of 134.65. Host New Prague, meanwhile, won with 145.15.
In the all-around, the Trojans' Jordis Weber and Kenadie Thiner tied for 11th overall with scores of 33.95. Weber tied for fourth on the beam with a score of 9.3; Thiner was seventh on the beam at 9.15.
Brooklyn Dykstra led all Worthington gymnasts on the floor with a score of 8.9 that placed her in a group of gymnasts in 11th place. Marley Phomsatry earned an 8.1 on the bars and tied for 12th. Isabella Lazzu was awarded a score of 8.9 on the vault that placed her 19th to lead the Trojans in that event.
WHS hosts JCC in a meet Thursday night.

The Minnesota West Lady Jays basketball team was edged at home Saturday afternoon by the Bethany Lutheran JV, 61-58. The Lady Jays, now 8-7, will open conference play — as will the men — at home Wednesday against Minnesota State-Fergus Falls.

In boys basketball Saturday night, the Trojans traveled to Madison, S.D. and were defeated 64-59. In girls basketball Friday night, host Worthington was defeated by St. Peter 74-35.
The Worthington girls are now 1-9 and the boys 1-8; the girls play at New Ulm on Tuesday while the Trojans play host to the Eagles.
