The Worthington Trojans boys hockey team rallied from a 3-0 third-period deficit Thursday night, but wound up falling to visiting Redwood Valley 4-3 in overtime.

WHS and Redwood Valley played a scoreless first period, and the teams remained in a 0-0 tie until a Cardinal goal at the 13:25 mark of period number two. Redwood Valley then scored twice in the opening minute of the third period for a 3-0 cushion.

The Trojans, though, were undeterred. Just 16 seconds after the Cardinals' third goal of the game, Mason Ommen scored on an assist from Spenser Nickel to make it 3-1. At 4:49, Dominic Pavelko's goal on passes from Nickel and Ryker Thier cut it to 3-2, and Nickel then scored unassisted with 4:22 remaining in regulation to knot things up.

Redwood Valley got the game-winner with 2:38 left in the overtime period as the Cardinals defeated Worthington for the first time in three tries this season. Tyson Petersen made 25 saves in net for the Trojans, who were outshot 29-23.
