The Worthington Trojans girls hockey team, playing in their regular season finale, blanked Prairie Center 6-0 to win their fifth game of the year — including their third shutout victory on home ice.

Freshman Breeta Johnson wound up with a hat trick on the night. She scored 1:44 into the game on an assist from Leah Nelson and added her second goal just 33 seconds later on a feed from Addison Joens. The third WHS goal of the opening period came just 37 seconds after Johnson's second goal, as Tayler Nickel scored on assists from Chloe Joens and Peyton Nickel, and Peyton Nickel later scored at 12:14 of the first period on a pass from Tayler Nickel.

Nelson made it a 5-0 game in the second period on a goal at 9:37, with Madelyn Cummings getting credit for an assist. Johnson netted her third goal of the night when she scored unassisted at 15:20.

Freshman Trojans goaltender Macie Mahlberg stopped all 12 shots she faced on the night. Worthington, which picked up its second victory over Prairie Center this season, had 41 shots on goal.

The Worthington Trojans boys basketball team dominated the second half Friday night against St. Peter, outscoring the Saints 57-34, to earn an 87-74 home victory and break a seven-game losing streak.

The Trojans trailed early, 17-11, but a 7-0 run featuring five points from Permeye Okony and two from Caleb Meyer put WHS in front roughly halfway through the first half. St. Peter would regroup, and it went on a 9-0 surge in the final minutes and took a 40-30 advantage into the locker room.

Worthington came out on fire to start the second half, as six points from Tetlouch Gach, four from Okony and two from Swinea completed a 12-0 burst that put the Trojans ahead 42-40. St. Peter would soon move back out in front, 54-47, and WHS head coach Clint Meyer called a timeout with exactly 11 minutes to go.

From there, Worthington got hot and stayed hot, outscoring St. Peter 40-20 the remainder of the way en route to its third win of the season. Okony and Swinea each hit for 21 points for the Trojans while Morke added 20. Meyer chipped in with 13 and Gach had 10.
