WHS speech team hosts, wins weekend tournament

The Worthington Trojan speech team opened its season Saturday with a home tournament at Worthington High School. Fifteen teams came to compete in 13 categories, and the Trojans came together to win the tournament. 


WHS had three champions: Angela Dailey in discussion, Austin Kinser in extemporaneous reading and Alondra Leon Flores in original oratory.


Also placing for Worthington were: Isaac Kinser, second place in discussion; Cameron Kinser, second place in extemporaneous speaking; MacKenzie Platt, second in poetry; Gisel Martinez, second in prose; Lucy O'Donnell, third in humorous; Cassie Schulz, third in original oratory; Jay Chavez, fourth place in extemporaneous reading; Annika Kinser, fifth in extemporaneous speaking; Hsa Moo, sixth in poetry; and Alonda Palma Zargoza, sixth in prose.   


The Trojan speech team competes again this Saturday in Luverne.
