The Windom Area girls basketball team opened their game against Worthington with a 25-0 run and the Eagles went on to beat the Trojans 77-26 at Minnesota West.
Anja Nielsen led Windom Area with 27 points, with 18 of those coming on six first-half 3-pointers. Haidyn Sammons added 18 points and a team-best nine rebounds for the Eagles, who held WHS without a field goal from the opening tip until Saige Scheepstra's putback with 2:50 left before halftime.
Windom Area led 48-15 at the half and then went on to score the first 27 points of the second half in improving to 3-0. The Trojans, now 0-3, were led by nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds from Alaina Feit.

The Minnesota West Lady Jays played host to the Gustavus Adolphus JV on Saturday night and were defeated 65-42. Katrina Schutz had 13 points and seven rebounds and Sadie Krahling contributed 12 points for the Lady Jays, who are now 5-3 on the year.
