The City of Worthington will again host an annual spring clean-up event.
The city provides this special pickup service each year for items not normally collected with regular garbage. Pickup will begin on Monday, May 5, with items placed prior to April 30 subject to enforcement action.
Tags will be required and a fee must be paid for various items, including: de-humidifiers; humidifiers; water softeners, sinks; commodes; bathtubs; stoves; refrigerators; washers and dryers; air conditioners; microwaves; mattresses, box springs, daybeds and futons; large furniture such as recliner chairs, easy chairs and couches; room-size rolls of carpet; padding linoleum; electronics equipment including computers, printers, TVs and radios; and hot water heaters.
The cleanup will include items such as lumber, doors, windows and metal/iron, but will be limited to a quantity that would fit in a regular pickup box.
The cleanup does NOT include: recyclable materials; items that fit in weekly trash containers; tires, paints; paint thinners; hazardous, toxic or liquid waste; trees/brush; concrete; batteries; gas and oil; grease; and pesticides/insecticides.
Tags may be purchased between April 28-May 2 at Worthington City Hall, Worthington Public Utilities or Schaap Sanitation. Contact the City of Worthington for additional information.
